Hello fellow Northern Illinois Streeters & Friends...
As everyone gets set for the holidaze, and the "Silly" season envelopes everyone, we all look at the salt stained, dirty roads; knowing that the "Nice Rides" won't be laying any patches, much less cruising on them anytime soon.  Sniff...sniff.
That however, doesn't mean there isn't any news funneling thru this time of year.
In fact we do have some good news to report after the sad news from late last month.
First off lets get to some Club Member NEWS...
I would like to congratualate a couple of members for getting some ink recently for their cars.
Starting with Dale Schwartz, son of member Jeff Schwartz... Pick up a copy of the March 2007 issue (Yes I just received mine yesterday) of High Performance Pontiac.  Dale has a 6 page spread with a nice story and great photos of his '82 Trans Am street machine.  The article is entitled "Import Eater" and starts on page 22 of the magazine. Nice to see one of our Youngest Club members getting some press.  Many of you have seen his T/A before and if you haven't, this is your opportunity!
Not to be outdone, Freddie "B" Blumenthal, writer for the Northwest Herald and fellow "Streeter" Member had a page in the Herald last Saturday with his picks for Best Street Rod, Musclecar, etc...of 2006.  Well Fred's Best Street Machine pick went to none other than our very own Erik Haugaard of Spring Grove.  Erik's well known Yellow "Stinger" '70 Chevelle was Freddie's Car of Choice.  The page was in black and white, but it was a full page, containing large photos of the cars and a nice paragraph beside each car.
Congrats to both our Streeter members! Maybe a nice large Frame would be a nice Christmas gift for each of them from their loved ones... Hmmmmnnn Hint Hint...
Another Bit of Great news: Last month Alexandra Everhart finally was able to leave the hospital with her proud new parents.  All are doing very well.  As many of you know, baby Alexandra was born prematurely due to complications and spent a good time at the hospital.  She is now nearing the 4 lb. area, and getting bigger and stronger.  Doug and Tracy will undoubtedly be very busy, but that is to be expected.  At the time being no one can actually see Alexandra due to her being so small and young and the possibility of germs, but she should hopefully be good for visits sometime soon. Anyone wishing to speak with the proud Mama and Papa can call them.
NEWS ON JACKETS:
Well several more are now completed, and our Screen Printer is working on them in between this large Government account he had to do.  They should be ready soon, but we will wait until ALL are done before we receive them.  If anyone saw the Prototype (Erik has one), they look phenomonal, and will surely look great on everyone that ordered one. We will be taking additional orders for jackets sometime next year for those interested.
Club Shirts:
We will be taking orders for NEW Club Shirts at the N.I.S. Club Meeting/Get-Together in Early May.  For this year we are planning on Orange Shirts... or as I call them "Hemi-Hugger-Grabber-Carousel-Big Bad-Orange" shirts.
The logo will be the same but most likely with a bolder white outline around the logo (Since the logo is mostly orange as well).  In Leue to Club Member Bob Urry's passing late last month, we have decided to dedicate this years shirt in the memory of Bob.  There will be a something on the shirt in Memory of Bob. Bob was the guy who named our club for those who remember.  Sort of a little tribute under the logo.  It will be a very special shirt to be sure.  Erik will have the T-Shirt ordering info ready for the May meeting.
Just a bit of info of our membership... With the current roster of Club members, we are right now at 76 members strong.  This doesn't include some of the very active family members that get involved with the club either.  That would push us to the near 100 count.  WOW! We do hope to see EVERYONE back next year, as 2007 should also be a GREAT ONE!
A Few "Streeters" Winter Club activities thrown on the table of possiblities are:  A group trip to either the Chicago or Milwaukee World of Wheels Show, the Chicago Auto Show, a trip to the Volo Car Museum, or another Chicago Wolves game for the group.  All of these are being discussed by Club members right now.
Another small one is a Club Movie Night at "Joe's" (My home in Richmond).  This one is most likely a definate with no official date as of yet.  We may combine this as another mingler and invite the wives... (There is a Big Screen upstairs too!)
A short amusing bit of Club News... N.I.S. member, Mark Nagel Emailed me about his trip a couple weeks ago in LA.  He was at LAX airport when someone asked him about the "Streeters" Shirt he was wearing at the time.  Mark told the guy that he was a member of the club.  The other guy said "Me too!"  The other guy was N.I.S. member Rick Lane from Johnsburg.  Both have never met before, but heard of each other and their rides.  Very Cool indeed!
As Mark put it, "It's a small world man!"
Well that is it for Club News for now... If anyone has any other good suggestions in addition to one of the aforementioned Winter activities, please let me know.  Or if you simply are interested in attending one of them, please contact me.
Until them, if I don't hear or speak to anyone I'm sending this to, Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Happy New Year, or a general Happy Holidaze!
This Hobby of ours is just growing BIGGER and BIGGER every year, and 2007 will undoubtedly be even BIGGER than 2006.  More excitement continues!
