Hello fellow "Streeters"...
As I am writing this, we are still enjoying a mild Winter.  Nearly no snow and well above average temps.  In fact on this January 4th it is a balmy 50 Plus degrees outside.
I know many of the Rides are put away for a long Winter's hibernation, but if you are able to get them out for a nice ride either last weekend or this week to stretch their legs a bit, get the blood flowin' again, etc. etc., it could make a fun Winter ride.  NEW YEARS DAY saw a lot of nice Rides running around in the balmy weather.
Since we are now just beginning a new year, the Car Show/Cruising Season is just around the corner as it will officially kick in around here in late April with the annual Spring Jefferson Car Show in Jefferson, WI.
I know a lot of people are pumped for the upcoming season and there is even more reason for it.  One thing I'd like to mention right off the bat is that we now have a website link thanks to one of our newest club members, Bill Crittenden.  Bill drives his Poncho Vibe and his Father-in-law John Walczak is also a recent addition to our club.  John drives a Dale Earnhardt Special Edition Monte Carlo SS as he is a HUGE NASCAR fan and an even Bigger Earnhardt fan.
Getting back to the Weblink... The website is www.carsandracingstuff.com... Scroll down and it is there that you will see a direct link to the Northern Illinois Streeters Site.
We will have club photos and information, not to mention a Club Event Schedule for the entire year listed on it.  It will be a source of interest and info for club members and interested Gearheads alike.
Now this will be further discussed and more will be announced as time goes on.  I would like to note that we are tentatively scheduling our Club Meeting and Mingler for the First Saturday of May.  Or better yet, or May 5th.  Meeting time will be 4pm, and we'd like to see ALL our club members and spouses or significant others at the Club meeting.  Not to mention your cool rides!  It will once again be held at my home in Richmond in the "Museum" (My Rec Room)... Most of you know what I speak of.  We will have LOTS AND LOTS to discuss including the Club Events, Club Shirts and Jackets, and other related Club NEWS & Topics.  One BIG ONE is the upcoming Gary Lang Car Show on July 22nd.  There is some BIG NEWS with that, and this is one event we want FULL CLUB Support with!  They want us there and they want to entice us to be there!  More Details to come on that.
But for now, stay tuned, we do have maybe one or two club Winter events coming for those interested, and I will be posting that soon as well.
By the way, the Club Jackets that several members ordered all went out to their NEW owners.  Let me tell you they are very very nice.  Thanks go to N.I.S. member Eric Haugaard for making the arrangements and ordering them for us all.  Many of us will be styling in the early Spring for sure... Not to mention they can be worn right now in this weather!  Jackets will be available to order again hopefully this Spring at the Club Meeting.
It was mentioned a couple times over last year that the Northern Illinois Streeters was the most interesting and exciting club out there last year and that comes as no surprise to many.  We made an impact at several shows last year with our now signature "Train of Cars" that we bring into these shows... Our record being 27 cars at the Richmond/Spring Grove Show.  That was almost a quarter of the cars they had in attendance overall! We also took two "Best Club Participation" awards last year too!  We have some fantastic and involved members who take pride in being together, showing and driving their rides and just having fun!  We grew by a whopping 27 members last year, a lot of them jumping ship from other clubs they were simply not happy with anymore.  While we were sorry to hear that, we were very happy to welcome them aboard. We hope to see EVERYONE back in 2007!  It's gonna be another GREAT year!
Take care all, Happy New Year, and maybe if we're lucky we'll keep this mild weather and start the season even sooner!
