Hello Streeters...
Well the date along with the location is set and confirmed! No changes. Be there if you can, as we hope EVERYONE can join us for a group get-together!
This will be our first "Off-Season activity" of the year, and we will give everyone PLENTY of notice to plan for it.
Date: Sunday, November 18th
Time: 10:00am
Place: The Squire Family Restaurant on the corner of Routes 173 and 83 in Antioch, IL.
This will be the First of the Northern Illinois Streeters Breakfasts of the Off-Season. After November, and starting in December thru April, we will meet every FIRST SUNDAY of each month. So it will only be a once-a-month deal.
We will change restaurants each month. I ask that Club members contact me with a suggestion of a Restaurant in another area. It can be anywhere you wish, close to your home, etc.
I do have some suggested areas of Algonquin, Fox Lake, McHenry, Lake Zurich, Palatine, Southern Wisconsin (just above the border somewhere... maybe Genoa City or Twin Lakes), Wauconda and possibly Woodstock.
Keep in mind the restaurant should be able to seat about 10 to 20 people. Together if possible, but definately in the same room.
The Squire Restaurant has worked out every year as a stop before the Antioch Dodge/Ford/Chevy Dealership show. We've been able to put tables together in the middle and seat everyone.
Now this is open to Streeters members and their families, friends and guests. So feel free to invite someone. Definately bring the family or significant other if possible. If not, simply come alone and join us.
This is a great way to meet NEW club members you have not yet met or remeniss with some of old guard members of the club.
This club has seen an incredible growth over the past two years and it's by no accident. My motto for the Northern Illinois Streeters has been "A different kind of Car Club" and we really are. The enthusiasm the members have just to get together and attend these shows in the large numbers we do, show that. I have not seen this with another club in the way I do here. Also the fact that ANY car is welcome, shows how everyone is very open, very down-to-earth and extremely friendly. No "Clicks" here! This Club breakfast will just be another way to get to know some of those members you have not met or seen yet.
So mark it on your calendars. I will send a few reminders out, but no confirmation lists or "Possibles"... You're there, you're there. We hope you make it, but we know some are in church, some are doing family things or as in my case, doing work on the house that was not completely done during the Show Season, for obvious reasons. But please try to make it if you can. The food there is good, and very reasonable and the company will be grand. Wear your colors if you like, and lets reminiss about some of the great events we've done this Season.
If anyone has any suggestions for restaurants for future Club Breakfasts, PLEASE contact me.
The suggestion of the Squire Restaurant by the way was given by one of our Ohio members, Karen Meyers, who will be there to join us on the 18th.
See you all soon.
