Hello Streeters...

Annual Club Meeting/Get-together/Mingler...

Another impressive showing last Saturday, this despite the bad weather that turned away all but three from bringing their rides. For that I'd like to thank Ken Kellner, Doug Everhart and Steve Beak for bringing them.

The rain did finally let up and the sun actually came out briefly. But it was cool and not that great outside. Guess Mother Nature was not on our side that day.

Nevertheless, we had about 50 people in attendance. We had some no-shows, but we also had a few surprises and possibles show. We had PLENTY of food... A LOT of food! Which was great, as it the majority of it was eaten. There was little left, so it must've been enjoyed.

We started the meeting about 6:30pm or so... to a large crowd. We touched bases on a LOT of things, including introducing several NEW members in the room, talking about the 2-Way 14 Channel, 38 Frequency 2-22 mile range radios, the upcoming cruise nights, and several other things.

Everyone that was there that ordered 2008 Club Swag, was able to take it home with them. Now I still have three boxes of clothes to pass out.

The clothes, T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Jackets and Caps, all look FANTASTIC. In fact, several club members who were there that either did not order anything or ordered just a T-Shirt or one thing... made comments like "Ohhh.. I knew these sweatshirts were gonna be this nice I woulda ordered one, or if I saw the T-Shirts...". Well you know what I mean.

Well the good news for EVERYONE, and this definately pertains to the NEWEST Streeters members who were not with us when we put the BIG order together... Well the good news is we do have a CLUB STORE set up thru the Screen Printer. Now prices will be a lot higher for items, simply because if you order one or two things, he has to set everything up on the press to do one or two items, rather than ONE BULK order, like we recently did.

Still you can get a T-Shirt, Sweatshirt Hoody, Cap or Jacket. I wore my Sweatshirt Hoody at this past Sunday's AACA Car Show and let me tell you it's NIIIIIIIIIIIICE! I LUV the Caps! They really turned out awesome!

We will be puting together a menu to order the items from the club store thru the Sreen Printer, Elite Printing, in Antioch, IL.

I will also have to emphasize that you get what you pay for. Don from Elite answered our questions (Erik and mine) back and forth by Email intstantaneously during the pricing/art/ordering process. Not only that but we paid NO TAX, NO SHIPPING, as they were personally delivered.

PLUS Don and his wife personally seperated all sizes, quantities and orders, bagged them individually and labeled them by club member name. All of this FREE. The seperating process of an order this large usually took Erik and I two to three hours to do ourselves. So it was much appreciated.

Okay enough of that. Another item brought up at the meeting was nametags. Margaret Cole went to the trouble of getting prices and info for us... I will be forwarding that Email soon.

Anyway, we decided to have the nametags Black in color with white type and the Streeters or rather JUST the "Streeters" part of our logo put on the tags. Both the cost of printing and tax will be split evenly and equally into the cost of the tags for everyone. Tags should be no more than $7.00 each I think. And if we get a big order (which so far we do), Margaret is going to ask if maybe they will forego the screen charge. We will see. All we can do is ask.

These tags will most likely get the most use at the Annual meeting that we just had and the "Off-Season" Breakfasts and Club Outings where they will be more needed. They can of course be used at the Car shows as well.

Anyway, I would like to thank EVERYONE who attended the Annual Club Meeting and Season Kickoff! It was another great meeting/get-together despite the weather.

Sunday's AACA Car Show...

Moving on to last Sunday's 2nd Car Show of the Season, six club members met at the McDonald's on Route 45 and Route 120 at 8am for breakfast. Vince Heywood, Jim Salzburg, Joe Salzburg, Ken Kellner, Craig Sincora and Brian Sincora. All of us enjoyed a nice little breakfast, some chit chat and then we all headed out in a small caravan to the Lake Co. fairgrounds across the street for the AACA Car Show.

All of us parked together and saved as spot for Erik, who was going to try and make it, but could not. Bob Weidman however, did and joined us about 10am. So were at 7 cars and club members. We also signed up another NEW Streeter with a '69 Camaro RS/SS... Ed Waibel of Mundelein. So in the end we actually had 8 cars and members. The show wasn't a big show on our schedule, but the type of cars and the quality makes this show interesting. There was a good sized Swap Meet as well as a Car Corral, so we had something to see all day. The weather was absolutely beautiful. The clear skies and sun made it very comfortable. I wore my new Cap and Hoody Sweatshirt, and others wore their new T's.

In the end, one of our own took home some gold. A First Place in the "1970 thru 1983 Class" was won by Bob Weidman with his very nice green '70 Monte Carlo SS. Congrats Bob!

A Great day, and a very nice show. The exact opposite of the weather the previous day.

Now this weekend there are no real shows scheduled, that being Mother's Day and all. However, it picks right back up NEXT Sunday with two shows, one of which we will promote and encourage the Streeters to attend. That being the show that Streeters member Vince Heywood is promoting in Antioch. I will be pushing big time for club support for this show come late this week or early next week. The other show is another that we've attended for years, the Belvidere Car Show put on by the Antique Automobile Club. But again, with this club there is choice , however we will promote Vince's Car Show this moreso year. So stay tuned for more info.
